Canada: Vancouver

Monday, July 20th:

After a 3:00 AM wake-up call and a ten hour travel day, we arrived in Vancouver, BC at noon. When we got to the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, our room wasn't quite ready so we walked around. After stopping in TOPSHOP, we ate at The Keg steakhouse. I enjoyed a delicious Caesar salad topped with a sliced filet. When the room was ready, we returned to the hotel to relax in the room and enjoy some cake in a belated celebration of my birthday. SO delicious. Needless to say it was an evening that had an early bedtime.

Tuesday, July 21: Due to the early bedtime, we woke up with the sun and got a head start on our day. After going to the concierge floor for breakfast, we set out for the city to explore. We had to stop in your classic tourist shops to browse the t-shirts, maple syrups and moose plushes. My father then went back to the hotel for his daily workout while my mom and I went into a very nice department store, Holt Renfrew. I got a super cute pair of Paige boyfriend jeans which I will definitely be wearing later this trip. Our lunch was more of a snack, considering it was a $25 plate of nachos. They were good, but not that good. After this we went on a long walk along the water, trying to not get hit by aggressive bicyclists. There is lots of sinage stating bikes yield to pedestrians, but after almost getting hit, a local began to swear at my family when not moving out of his way fast enough. Dinner was also rather uneventful because we were tired, but tomorrow is going to be a long day full of excitement so we decided to get some sleep.

 can't wait to wear these!

 Victoria, BC

Victoria, BC

Wednesday, July 22: Today was an early morning. We had to be at the docks to catch our seaplane to Victoria by 6:45 AM! We got ready, grabbed a Starbucks, and we were on our way. The seaplane was wonderfully smooth with an Australian pilot {where can you go wrong}. After we arrived following a short 35 minute flight, we stopped in a cafe for a Danish before catching the boat for our Whale Watching tour. The tour was from 9AM-Noon, and it went quite fast! It was really windy and cold, and I wasn't prepared enough for the temperature, but overall it wasn't too bad {thank goodness for the sun}. We saw so many whales, including the pod Tilikum (featured in "Blackfish") was taken from. This was an amazing and breathtaking experience and I recommend the Prince of Whales company in Victoria to anyone who gets the chance. For lunch we went to North 48 (because we are at the 48th Parallel) and it was delicious. I had a Philly Steak Salad which was topped with "Frites" (french fries). We then took the seaplane back to Vancouver where we all rested for a while. We then ventured out again to go to dinner where we previously had lunch: The Keg. Again, it was great! We then discovered a mall called the Pacific Centre underneath a nearby hotel! It had many familiar, nice stores. That's it for Vancouver, next is Kamloops, where my dad went to high school! We're only there for a day, and then onto Jasper. I'll blog again then. xoxoxo
